Education Development

As Education Development Manager at Sustainable Projects Ireland. This role was responsible for the vision, design, commercial sustainability and impact of the Ecovillage's education programmes. The core remit spanned leading strategic planning and programme design grounded in market research; outreach, marketing and partnership-building with other education providers; managing the education budget and securing income and funding streams to meet financial targets; measuring programme impact against the charity's mission; and supporting delivery. Over the course of the role, I led the strategic design of a new education service around Ireland's new Leaving Certificate subject, Climate Action and Sustainable Development.

Cloughjordan Ecovillage

Cloughjordan Ecovillage, in County Tipperary, is Ireland's first and largest ecovillage, a mixed-use development on a 67-acre site, home to a community of over 130 people living in high-performance, low-carbon homes. Established in 1999 and developed by the member-led charity Sustainable Projects Ireland, it was conceived as a working model of sustainable living: it has planted over 20,000 trees, runs Ireland's largest renewable-energy district heating system, and has brought the average resident's ecological footprint to less than half the national average.
